About the Author

About Kim Tillyer

Born into an artistic family, Kim was always encouraged to paint and draw creatively. Although as a teenager she went to Harrogate Art College in the UK for her Foundation year, it wasn’t until Kim was in her late 30s that she began studying for a degree in Textiles and Surface Design at what was Cleveland College of Art and Design (now The Northern School). She graduated with first class honours at the age of 40. Kim rediscovered cyanotype a process introduced to her as a child via an old pack of Sun Print paper someone had given her children, while developing artwork for her degree; from there her blue-and-white adventures began.

Kim regularly participates in trade shows, exhibits at art fairs and galleries, and teaches workshops. She has illustrated several poetry and children’s books, and her work has also featured in two regional magazines, Cumbria Life and Cumbria Magazine. In 2020, Kim appeared on BBC Countryfile as part of Wordsworth’s 200th birthday celebration.

Kim is based in a studio near Keswick in the Lake District, UK.
